Alfred Hollins was born in Hull in 1865 and was blind from birth. He was a pianist, organist and composer and performed across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and USA, as well giving solo concerto performances for Queen Victoria. He was organist of St. George’s Presbyterian Kirk, Edinburgh, Scotland for 45 years until his death in 1942.

His Concert Overture No. 2 in c minor was published in 1899 as part of the Edwin Lemare Recital Series. The opening recital of the organ of Hull City Hall was given by Edwin H. Lemare on 30th March 1911.
